Welcome to Tomahawk Elementary — Home of the Tigers!

Since opening our doors in 1955, our school has proudly united the communities of Prairie Village and Overland Park. Over the decades, we’ve evolved, adapted, and blossomed — and now, we’re thrilled to welcome you to our brand new, state-of-the-art building, purposefully designed to nurture learning, spark imagination, and support every child’s journey.

Like a mighty tree, our school is grounded in tradition, united in purpose, and always reaching toward what’s possible. Our mission — “Together we learn for a better tomorrow” — lives in every classroom, hallway, and playground. Whether students are just beginning their Pre-K experience or preparing to move on from 6th grade, they are learning not only academics, but also the values of collaboration, resilience, and kindness.

Our vision of creating a safe environment where everyone feels connected and challenged each day shapes everything we do. Here, each student is seen and supported. Our teachers and staff work as a team to ensure that children develop confidence, character, and curiosity.
